Overview We are seeking an accomplished and mission-driven Accounting Director - Grants and Behavioral Health Programs to provide strategic and operational financial leadership across our grant-funded and payer-based behavioral health portfolio.This role serves as both a financial steward and a strategic partner to the leadership teams of VNS Health Behavioral Health and the Center for Home Care Policy & Research. What We Provide: * Referral bonus opportunities * Generous paid time off (PTO), starting at 30 days of paid time off and 9 company holidays * Health insurance plan for you and your loved ones, Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Disability * Employer-matched retirement saving funds * Personal and financial wellness programs * Pre-tax flexible spending accounts (FSAs) for healthcare and dependent care * Generous tuition reimbursement for qualifying degrees * Opportunities for professional growth and career advancement * Internal mobility, generous tuition reimbursement, CEU credits, and advancement opportunitiesWhat You Will Do: Strategic Financial Partnership * Serve as a trusted advisor to Behavioral Health and Research leadership, providing insight into program performance, financial risk, and strategic opportunities. * Optimize the use of grant and payer-based funds, ensuring dollars are aligned to the right activities and that direct vs. indirect cost allocations support long-term sustainability. * Translate complex financial information into actionable insights that guide decision-making and investment planning.Financial Oversight & Operations * Oversee financial operations for grant-funded and payer-based behavioral health programs, including budgeting, reporting, reconciliations, and cost allocations. * Lead the accounts receivable reconciliation process, ensuring accuracy of balances, timely resolution of discrepancies, and appropriate reserves. * Maintain oversight of reserve methodologies and ensure sound financial treatment of accruals, revenue recognition, and adjustments. * Partner with FP&A, and operational teams to ensure consistency and transparency in financial reporting.Compliance & Audit Management * Ensure full compliance with all applicable federal, state, city, and private funding regulations. * Provide leadership for all financial audits, including Uniform Guidance, Cost and Financial Reporting (CFR), and Indirect Cost Rate (ICR) certifications. * Develop and maintain strong internal controls, documentation, and reporting processes to ensure audit readiness and regulatory integrity. * Monitor evolving compliance requirements and proactively update policies and procedures.Leadership & Continuous Improvement * Lead and develop a high-performing team of accounting professionals supporting grants and behavioral health programs. * Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth, aligned with the organization's values of Agility, Empathy, and Integrity. * Continuously evaluate and improve systems, workflows, and reporting to strengthen financial management and decision support. Qualifications Education: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
