The Global Initiatives Academic Program Coordinator will play a vital role in promoting and supporting study abroad opportunities for students and engaging faculty in program development. The ideal candidate will be passionate about international education and capable of managing program logistics, advising students, and collaborating with faculty and external partners. This position involves a combination of advising, program management, and operational support to ensure a seamless experience for students studying abroad. The Global Initiatives Academic Program Coordinator also provides support to the entire Global Initiatives unit including the International Student Services Office and Diplomatic Engagement activities. Duties include but not limited to:
-Advise students on study abroad program selection, academics and responsibilities while abroad, program-specific prerequisites, visa requirements, health & safety, cultural adjustment, and on-site administration
-Communicate with academic and advising departments to secure study abroad course equivalencies and help advise students on programs that fulfill degree requirements.
-Liaison with offices such as Registrar, Financial Aid, and Bursars to process student enrollments, financial aid applicability, financial payments and study abroad charges.
-Collaborate with faculty and external partners to develop and manage study abroad programs.
-Track and maintain accurate records of program materials including student conduct form, medical form, travel waivers, insurance information, flights, and risk management forms.
-Identify safety/security issues that may affect BMCC operations and personnel globally
-Monitor program budgets and coordinate with financial offices to ensure accurate billing and payments.
-Coordinate and manage study abroad interview scheduling for Winter and Summer term study abroad student selection process.
-Track program participation and outcomes to prepare reports for institutional review.
-Assist with faculty training, student pre-departure orientations, and re-entry events.
-Assist students with study abroad scholarship applications such as the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, Fund for Education Abroad, Critical Language Scholarship etc.
-Assisting in the promotion, planning, and implementation of study abroad programs and events.
-Provide administrative/operational support and work on special projects for the International Student Services Office (ISSO) and the Office of Global Initiatives as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Experience in study abroad coordination; knowledge of intercultural development; and demonstrated experience in student services.
-Proven ability to design and present well organized and informative programs/workshops
-Proficiency with Canva, WordPress, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
-Well-developed organizational skills: ability to manage time and handle multiple projects at once
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment

Provides basic operational and analytical support related to a College's specialized academic program.
Supports the directors and managers with orientation preparation, student advisement regarding program requirements, and providing basic information about financial aid and registration
Manages office records including faculty files; prepares reports and surveys; collects and maintains statistical data on program activities
Serves as liaison to various College offices to provide service delivery and appropriate referrals to students
Collects and reviews syllabi to ensure compliance with standards
Serves as resource person for students and faculty regarding program policies and procedures
May supervise office operations and/or monitor department budget
Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary range is $59,444 - $68,668; commensurate with qualifications, education and experience
