TAIT Towers Freelance Event Operations Director (Contract) — Washington, DC | May–June 2026 in New York, New York

TAIT is looking for experienced Freelance Event Operations Directors (U.S. based) to support a major project taking place on-site in Washington, DC from mid‑May through mid‑June 2026, with remote preproduction to begin April 2026. Travel and accommodations will be provided.

This is a temporary contract role, not a full-time staff position.

Position Purpose:

The Freelance Event Operations Director is responsible for logistics and operational execution across all event locations, with a primary focus on the event operations, including operations planning and implementation of traffic management, perimeter control and security, access control, crew operations, credentialing, and government agency coordination, crew and patron access logistics (entrances, flow).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-departmental advance and execution related to traffic, perimeter, health and safety, and access control and credential strategy.

  • Oversee implementation of comprehensive traffic management plans, including road closures, routing, ingress/egress planning, public transport, and parking operations.

  • Coordinate closely with government agencies on operational approvals, safety planning, and compliance.

  • Oversee perimeter strategy and site access control planning in collaboration with Security and Credentialing teams.

  • Provide oversight of credential strategy and access zoning plans.

  • Manage BOH operations including crew logistics and motor pool oversight.

  • Assist with coordination the activities of all crew and public safety contractors in relation to local authorities: police, fire, medical, government agencies and partners across the various event areas.

  • Serve as a key liaison between client, agencies, vendors, and internal teams to ensure alignment across all operational workstreams. Goal is to remain adaptable and available to support various elements of the project on an as-needed basis.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 8+ years of senior-level experience in live events, entertainment, touring, or production leadership.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) on Mac or Windows; familiarity with AirTable or comparable production/asset management platforms.

  • Ability to participate in meetings across flexible time zones as required.

  • Proven capability to evaluate operational approaches, drive efficiencies, and scale processes.

  • Strong strategic planning skills, including shaping direction, aligning with executive leadership, and guiding core teams.

  • Exceptional project and budget management experience, with a track record of delivering complex programs.

  • Oversight of legal and contractual accuracy in partnership with relevant internal teams.

  • Commitment to fostering transparent communication channels across all departments.

  • Ensures adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and best practices
