The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThe Environmental Controls Technician performs operations as required by job work order and/or blueprint or diagram in preventive maintenance and repairs to various types of electrical equipment.Responsibilities * Performs operations as required by job work order and/or blueprint or diagram in preventive maintenance and repairs tovarious types of electrical equipment such as motors, control and power circuits (both A.C. and D.C.), switches, generators,transformers, relays, motor controllers, rectifier units, electrical devices, systems and apparatus, load distributions, cables, andprinted circuitry. * Must be proficient in the use of all tools of the electrical trade and must be skilled in the operations of electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, multi-meters, meggers, tachometers, temperature gauges, watt meters, phase meters, and various recording devices. * Shall be capable of reading blueprints and schematics to determine circuitry. Shall supervise and direct the work of lower labor grade employees assigned to projects in electrical repair work and installations in accordance with the Electrical Code of the City of New York. * Shall have a home telephone and be available for emergency calls at night and on days off. * Shall accept a proportional share of scheduled overtime work.The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
