As Director, Enterprise Architecture within Aladdin Engineering group, you will define and drive strategic architecture across the asset management platform—aligning business strategy, regulatory obligations, and technology capabilities.
This role influences target-state architecture across front-, middle-, and back-office domains, enabling scalable investment processes, robust risk management, and resilient client servicing.
You will partner with senior leaders across investments, distribution, operations, risk, compliance, and technology to modernize platforms while ensuring security, availability, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise & Domain Architecture
Define and maintain architecture vision, principles, and target-state across:
Investment platforms (e.g., portfolio management, trading)
Data, analytics, and reporting platforms
Client, distribution, servicing, and IT operations
Core operational and reference data services
Align architecture to the business strategies and commercial outcomes of the firm.
Data & Analytics Architecture
Define enterprise data architecture for investment, market, reference, and client data
Enable advanced analytics, risk modelling, and performance attribution
Promote governance, lineage, quality, and privacy controls
Technology Strategy & Governance
Establish architecture standards and approved patterns (cloud, data, integration, security)
Govern solution designs for consistency, reuse, and alignment
Drive technology rationalization and vendor/platform strategy
Cloud & Platform Modernization
Lead cloud and hybrid architecture strategy balancing innovation with regulatory constraints
Modernize legacy systems supporting trading, settlement, accounting, and reporting
Support strategic partnerships with fintech and market infrastructure providers
AI Adoption & Implementation
Define enterprise AI strategy to enhance investment insights, operational efficiency, & client experience
Identify opportunities for AI/ML integration across Aladdin platform components
Establish governance frameworks for ethical AI use, regulatory compliance, and risk controls
Partner with data science and engineering leaders to align AI initiatives with business objectives
Drive strategic decisions on AI platforms, tooling, and vendor partnerships
Transformation & Change
Provide architectural leadership for:
Front-to-back platform modernization
Data and analytics transformation
M&A integration and platform consolidation
Identify technical debt and define pragmatic remediation roadmaps
Regulatory, Risk & Resilience
Ensure compliance with global regulations and internal risk policies
Embed resilience, continuity, and disaster recovery in designs
Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Cybersecurity for “controls by design”
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors in computer science/engineering (Masters preferred)
10+ years in enterprise/solution architecture within financial services
Deep understanding of asset management domains (investments, risk, operations, distribution)
Proven experience in regulated, high-availability environments
Strong ability to communicate complex concepts to senior stakeholders
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Technology & Architecture Expertise
Strong foundation in data architecture and analytics platforms
Cloud architecture experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) in regulated environments
Familiarity with APIs, event streaming, messaging, & modern design patterns (SOA, Microservices, DDD)
Hands-on coding in Java, Python, JavaScript, C/C++; relational and NoSQL databases
Experience with frameworks for streaming/distributed systems (Kafka, Cassandra)
Knowledge of secure architectures and modern web stacks
Certifications & Standards
- TOGAF and cloud certifications preferred
Leadership & Analytical Skills
Advanced problem-solving and influential communication across global teams
Ability to guide software architecture decisions and evaluate integration methods
Collaborative leadership across time zones

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$215,000.00 - USD$275,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model
