The Global Payments Solutions Data Strategy and Governance team (DSG) is looking for a Data Strategy, Architecture & Domain Data Governance Manager. This role is responsible for serving as the data domain authority for Global Payments Solutions, with accountability spanning data strategy, data governance, data architecture alignment, and domain-level data design oversight.
This role will partner closely with the Data Banking Data Executive and senior Technology leaders to ensure that:
The current-state data ecosystem is deeply understood (systems, flows, transformations, and data elements)
Future-state architectures and data models are fit-for-purpose, scalable, and aligned to business and regulatory needs
Data is intentionally designed to support Governed Reporting such as Non-Financial Regulatory Reporting (NFRR), business processes, and other use cases such as analytics
This role blends business process expertise, technical data depth, and architectural judgment , and acts as the primary escalation point and thought partner for data-related decisions within the subdomain.
The Data Manager is expected to be the “trusted expert” of the data ecosystem , including:
Upstream source systems and event generation
Data flows, transformations, and persistence layers
Core data elements, definitions, and nuanced behaviors
Business processes that generate and consume data
Logical and physical data models supporting current and future use cases
This role oversees and challenges data design decisions rather than producing low-level architecture, ensuring strong alignment across business intent, technical implementation, and regulatory expectations.
This person will be driving forward DSG team goals while building bridges with all partner teams including subject matter experts and leaders globally in the business, technology, and operations. Additionally, this role will be an integral in supporting the DSG’s accountabilities to Enterprise Data Management Policy and related Standards adherence.
This role will require an unique blend of business domain expertise, an in-depth understanding & knowledge of data, and a keen drive towards making an impact.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as the domain data authority for subdomains Global Payments Solutions, with deep understanding of the end‑to‑end data ecosystem including upstream source systems, data flows, transformations, core data elements, and persistence layers.
• Partner closely with the Technology leadership to align data strategy, architecture, and governance priorities with business objectives and regulatory expectations.
• Oversee and challenge current‑ and future‑state data architectures and data models , ensuring designs are fit‑for‑purpose, scalable, and aligned to enterprise standards.
• Provide design oversight for technology initiatives impacting the subdomain, ensuring strong alignment between business processes, data generation, and data consumption.
• Drive and execute domain‑level data strategy and roadmap , balancing business enablement, regulatory requirements (including Governed Reporting such as NFRR), and long‑term data sustainability.
• Ensure adoption of and adherence to Enterprise Data Management policies and standards , including data quality, lineage, controls, and issue management.
• Act as the primary thought partner and escalation point for complex data‑related decisions, risks, and trade‑offs across business, technology, operations, risk, and compliance.
• Enable data to support a broad set of enterprise use cases , including regulatory reporting, analytics, and operational needs, with awareness of non‑functional requirements such as accuracy, traceability, and resiliency.
Required Skills:
• 8+ years of experience across data strategy, data governance, data architecture, or domain data leadership
• Deep understanding of complex data ecosystems , including upstream/downstream systems and integration patterns
• Strong knowledge of data architecture and data modeling concepts (logical, conceptual, and physical), even if not hands-on build
• Proven ability to evaluate and challenge architecture and data model designs
• Experience aligning business processes to data flows and structures
• Hands-on experience with Enterprise Data Management policies, standards, and controls
• Ability to operate as a domain data authority while partnering with senior business and technology leaders
• Strong executive communication skills; able to explain complex data issues simply
• Ability to work in fast-paced, work-intensive organization and be able to adapt to changing priorities while delivering with high accuracy
Desired Skills:
• Payments or transaction banking domain expertise with a strong data lens
• Experience working in complex data architectures supporting nuanced business processes
• Exposure to legacy modernization and data transformation initiatives
• Familiarity with data requirements in heavily regulated environments
• Strong relationship management skills navigating and partnering across large, distributed organizations from senior data / technology executives, product owners, to business product teams and operations users.
• Comfort operating in roles that require judgment, influence, and challenge, not just execution
