The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryUnder the general direction of the Sr. Clinical Care Manager, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator I, RN is responsible for assisting in the management of the delivery of patient care across three faculty practice sites and four divisions. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator I, RN will be expected to assist as reasonably needed in other divisions within the department of Dermatology.The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the management of the delivery of patient care in the faculty practice sites. Primary site of responsibility will be the midtown location. Provide management support to the Clinical Nurse Manager in the supervision of clinical staff.ResponsibilitiesTasks include but are not limited to coordinating patient care; anesthetizing by local injection; assisting in surgical procedures; developing a nurse-patient/family relationship; and assessing and managing patients within all adult age groups from young adult to geriatrics. Perform diagnostic testing and analysis of results. The incumbent needs to be a meticulous recorder of patient information. Therefore, excellent interpersonal communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to extract information during patient history interviews. The nurse must be able to explain a treatment and follow-up plan carefully and easily to patients.Other duties will include ordering appropriate laboratory supplies and following up on results, answering pre and post-operative questions, gathering data, and acting as a liaison. * Assist Physicians with assessment, evaluation, and management of patient care of patients. * Communicate all clinical activity to supervising Physician. * Reports to supervising Physician. Surgical procedures including local anesthesia, punch, shave, suture removal, wound care. * Prepare, dilute, draw up medication as needed for use in the faculty practice and Resident clinic * Derm medical procedures including phototherapy (able to prescribe and adjust use for both clinic and home use), Unna boot * Assess patients using all available physical and diagnostic data, incorporating medical history and evaluate patient status and progress with current plan of care. * Provide coverage, when needed to monitor and assess patients during and after selected therapies. Some infusions will require on-site monitoring if infusion reaction/allergic reaction occurs; perform CPR * Attend staff meetings, patient support meeting, and continuing education pertaining to specialty as appropriate * Participate in all quality improvement/process improvement initiatives * Perform patient and family education and counseling including disease state, management/plan of care, side effect, medications, all follow up * Perform phone triage as appropriate and provide phone follow up/direction to patient appropriate to situation * Participate in sign-out activities and all patients follow up * Participate in or lead health initiatives within the department/unit to address health care gaps and promote positive health outcomes for patients. * May be asked to travel to site locations to train staff or review processes with Medical Assistants. * May establish standard clinical supply storage in collaboration with other clinical staff and audit that standards are being maintained.
