The Columbia Center for Human Development (CCHD) is seeking a highly motivated Associate Research Scientist (ARS) to spearhead a cutting-edge project focused on idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). This role centers on testing novel therapeutic compounds using a stem cell-based in vitro disease model and advancing the development of this platform. A key component of the project involves conducting CRISPR screens to uncover new drug targets.This role demands a high level of expertise in cellular and molecular biology, with specialized skills in stem cell biology, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, cell culture techniques, and gene expression analysis.Key Responsibilites * Develop, optimize, and adhere to experimental protocols. * Conduct research independently while collaborating effectively with team members. * Provide training and mentorship to junior researchers. * Support general laboratory operations and project-related needs. * Develop, optimize, and adhere to experimental protocols. * Conduct research independently while collaborating effectively with team members. * Provide training and mentorship to junior researchers. * Support general laboratory operations and project-related needs. This position allocates approximately 70% of time to hands-on experimental research, 20% to scientific reporting and data presentation, and 10% to teaching and other academic responsibilities.
