The Opportunity

We are looking for an Associate Principal, Mechanical or Electrical Engineer to join our growing multi-disciplinary team in New York (or New Jersey with flexibility to support the NY market).

This strategic hire is part of our long-term growth plan and will help strengthen our market-facing capabilities in the region. You will be responsible for contributing to business development efforts including attending industry networking events, leading bid submissions, speaking at conferences, representing Arup at interviews and managing key client relationships.

You will be part of a go-to-market group of senior SMEP staff supported by the Regional Business Leaders and the Marketing staff in New York. Being a part of the work-winning team will give you the opportunity to grow within the organization and rise in leadership.

This role will require collaboration across disciplines on challenging and meaningful projects, bringing the best of Global Arup to the local New York market.

We seek a candidate who brings:

  • An established client portfolio in the New York market

  • Broad sector experience, including:

  • Commercial Real Estate (office, hotel and residential)

  • Museums and Galleries

  • Higher Education Science Buildings

  • Government Property

  • Proven leadership and work winning capabilities.

  • The ability to settle into a senior role and build trust quickly

The skills:

  • Strong client relationship management and business development skills.

  • Experience preparing proposals and bid submissions.

  • Experience negotiating contracts, terms, and conditions aligned with commercial objectives.

  • Proven ability to identify and win new projects aligned with strategic goals.

  • Ability to identify and mitigate technical, regulatory, and contractual risks.

  • Financial acumen in monitoring budgets, expenses, and project performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer license and NCEES certification.

  • LEED Accreditation preferred

New York / New Jersey Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in NY/NJ is $171,000 to $240,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of NY/NJ will differ.
