Overview Join the G.R.I.D. Edge team within Distribution Engineering's System Design department where you can have the opportunity to build the electric grid of the future. The System Design department is seeking highly a motivated and versatile Associate Engineer (1H) to join our team as we lead the clean energy transition. System Design is responsible for high tension, renewable and distributed generation analysis and interconnections, overall system analysis, design, standards, and engineering computer applications. The G.R.I.D Edge team, within System Design, is specifically involved in the interconnection of distributed and renewable energy resources on to our overhead and underground distribution networks. This includes, but is not limited to, performing technical analysis, collaborating with internal and external partners, commission testing, participating in utility and developer working groups to remain up to date with technology and technical direction of the market. We are looking for candidates who are self-starters and possess a deep sense of personal accountability, are flexible in order to handle multiple diverse projects and changing priorities to meet tight deadlines, can render sound business decisions, and are excellent communicators. You will have the opportunity to be part of a culture where information is shared, and new ideas are welcomed.Responsibilities Core ResponsibilitiesAbility to perform a technical review on Distributed Energy Resource applications which includes, but not limited to, electrical schematics, protection and control systems, and other submitted technical formsUtilize load flow tools (e.g. PVL) to analyze and propose solutions to mitigate identified impacts of interconnecting distributed energy resources to Con Edison's electrical systemSupport in the development and/or update of technical specifications for internal and/or external stakeholders as requiredInteract with both internal and external customers, DPS staff and various levels of managementComfortable working in a fast-paced dynamic environment, handle multiple assignments, and meet deadlinesMust be flexible, and be capable of exercising independent judgmentIdentify and take ownership of issues related to technical matters and/or process improvementsVisit field locations, substations, or other company locations to enhance understanding of the distribution system and distribution system equipment as well as to improve specification compliancePrepares, reviews and comments on Company specifications as required, as well as reviewing waiver request.Collaborate cross functionally with all internal and external stakeholdersPerform other related tasks and assignments as requiredComfortable in presenting to internal stakeholders, various levels of management, and external organizationsSupport the DER project from design, construction, and witness testing to commission the system for operationRemain up to date with advancement in technology and/or equipment to support interconnect
