City of New York Assistant Electrical Engineer in New York, New York

Job Description

The Division of Traffic Signals and Street Lighting is seeking motivated candidate to perform responsible work in Electrical Engineering. The candidate will engage in research, investigations, studies or examinations related to the engineering functions or activities of a department or agency. Prepare designs and plans using AutoCAD, evaluate contract documents and specifications, working drawings and other technical specifications and estimates of quantities. Conduct field visits and complete lighting survey projects and any lighting improvement requests to ensure city standards, IESNA, and national electrical codes are met. The successful candidate will coordinate with design consultants and review submitted plans for the development/modification of new and/or existing signalized intersections and street lighting work. Coordinate electrical service, relocation, and other requests for utilities. Advise and make recommendations to other city and state agencies regarding traffic signal and street lighting projects. Review and approve shop drawings and catalogue cuts for construction. Maintain records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys and inspections.

Hours/Shift: 35 Hrs. / Mon- Fri/ 8:00am – 4:00pm

Work Location: 34-02 Queens Blvd L.I.C., NY 11101

This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program agreed to between the City and DC37.

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in electrical engineering work; or

  2. A baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.

A master’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university can only be used to substitute for one year of full-time satisfactory work experience in electrical engineering. A degree in any other engineering area, or in any engineering technology area, is not acceptable.

Salary Min: $ 66,330.00

Salary Max: $ 99,528.00
