Job Summary:

The Application Development Manager, VP is responsible for the development, enhancement, and ongoing support of enterprise applications within the Corporate and Investment Banking Technology (CIBT) organization. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and close collaboration with business partners to deliver reliable, scalable solutions supporting Capital Markets and Derivatives systems.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines individual contributor responsibilities with oversight of a small team of junior developers, ensuring day-to-day operational excellence while supporting larger strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of financial services technology and the firm’s broader business and economic drivers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, implementation, and support of derivatives-based applications.

  • Serve as a senior technical contributor, delivering bug fixes, enhancements, and large project initiatives.

  • Work closely with business partners to gather, analyze, and document functional and technical requirements.

  • Manage and provide hands-on support for web hosting infrastructure and application environments.

  • Design and document application architecture and deployment procedures.

  • Act as a liaison between application teams, business users, service providers, and vendors.

  • Coordinate testing and project implementations in accordance with bank policies and standards.

  • Organize and manage technical workstreams, clearly communicating status, risks, and dependencies using Agile tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, Quality Engineering teams, and external vendors.

  • Provide guidance and limited oversight to junior team members to ensure operational and project deliverables are met.

  • Participate in projects and other initiatives as assigned, proactively identifying risks and mitigating issues.

  • Be available on short notice and work extended hours when required to support business needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a software developer within the financial services industry.

  • Strong hands-on development experience with one or more of the following technologies: C#, .NET, Java, Python, VBA

  • Strong database and SQL skills, including in-depth experience with batch processing.

  • Experience supporting or developing systems for derivatives products, including Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange options.

  • Prior experience working with vendor trading platforms such as Murex, Calypso, or Sophis.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results with limited supervision.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Background supporting Capital Markets or Corporate & Investment Banking technology platforms.

  • Experience working in Agile development environments.

  • Understanding of enterprise architecture, production support, and financial services security controls.

  • Prior experience mentoring or leading junior developers in a technical team.

Education:

•Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience

The typical base pay range for this role is between $147k - $205k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonuses and/or incentive compensation.
