Robert Half Accountant - Entry Level in New York, New York
Description We are looking for a motivated Entry-Level Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. This long-term contract position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in project accounting and financial operations within a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and capable of working collaboratively across multiple departments.
Responsibilities:
• Interpret contracts and assist with pricing, cost proposals, and margin analysis.
• Set up projects in Oracle and input budgets and rate structures accurately.
• Monitor and update project budgets throughout their lifecycle to ensure accuracy.
• Track costs, revenues, subcontractor values, and purchase orders to maintain financial oversight.
• Review subcontractor invoices and ensure compliance with agreed terms.
• Generate reports on labor breakage, cost trends, and overall project health.
• Collaborate with project managers to provide forecasting and financial updates.
• Coordinate with legal, accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and operations teams to support financial processes.
• Assist with documentation for draft invoices and ensure corrections align with project milestones.
• Perform financial closeouts by reconciling budgets and final costs while maintaining compliance with internal controls. Requirements • Familiarity with accounts payable (AP) processes and procedures.
• Ability to perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations with accuracy.
• Experience with accounts receivable (AR) management and accounting entries.
• Knowledge of project accounting principles and cost tracking.
• Proficiency in handling approved invoices and ensuring compliance.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate across various departments.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and tools such as Oracle.
