Academic Internship Specialist (HEOa) - Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing

POSITION DETAILS

The Academic Internship Specialist (Graduate Clinical Placement Specialist) works in collaboration with the Director for Graduate Clinical Affairs in a fast-paced office environment to place over 400 Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing graduate students in a variety of settings for their clinical learning experiences throughout the year.

Reporting to the Director for Graduate Clinical Affairs, the Academic Internship Specialist (Graduate Clinical Placement Specialist) will:

• Coordinate graduate program clinical placements in compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and policy requirements to ensure a supportive, effective learning environment for students.

• Collaborate with the Director for Graduate Clinical Affairs, Evelyn Lauder Associate Dean for Nurse Practitioner Programs, program/specialty directors, clinical partners, and preceptors to create a quality graduate clinical placement experience.

• Collect and maintain graduate clinical placement and other relevant data for compliance, reports, presentations, and other communications.

• Maintain databases and document libraries to ensure data quality, completeness, and accuracy.

• Act as a liaison between the School of Nursing, clinical partners, and preceptors to support student success.

• Communicate effectively with leadership and stakeholders to collect and analyze assessment and outcomes data related to clinical placements.

• Conduct student, faculty, and preceptor orientation sessions related to clinical placements.

• Stay updated on CUNY, Hunter, College, and School of Nursing Policies and systems related to clinical placements and compliance.

• Undertake additional related responsibilities as needed to support the school mission and strategic goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years of related experience required.

Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills are required.

Proficiency and competency in database management, Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Adobe, and other relevant systems/software are required; strong competency a plus.

The successful candidate must be detail oriented, able to multitask, and use discretion when handling confidential information; have good customer service talent; exhibit independent initiative and good judgment; and work collaboratively with administrators, staff, faculty, and students

  • Acts as liaison between the College and employer sponsors, monitoring the success of students' internship experiences

  • Supervises student internships, assuring adherence to related College and governmental policies and regulations

  • Creates and conducts orientation sessions and workshops for students in the internship program; coordinates applications, interviews, and placement as part of overall student outreach

  • Provides faculty orientation and development related to internship programs

  • Implements and evaluates competencies and other success factors

  • Performs related duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary commensurate with experience, within approved range ($68,369-$76,937).
