NJ Employer Farmworkers and Laborers, Crop, Nursery, in New Paltz, New York
Anticipated period of employment: 05/15/2026 to 10/30/2026
3 months verifiable experience required.
Manually prune, plant, cultivate, & harvest fruits & vegetables such as; apples, peaches, plums, berries, grapes, cherries & pumpkins. Use hand tools, such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, & knives. Duties include tilling soil & applying fertilizers; transplanting, weeding, thinning, or pruning crops. Identify plants, pests & weeds to determine the selection & application of pesticides & fertilizers. Apply non-restricted pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers to crops. Repair & maintain farm vehicles, implements & mechanical equipment. Construct trellises, repair fences & farm buildings. Harvest fruit & vegetables by hand. Pick apples for fresh marketing and/or processing. After 3 days of training employer will expect worker to pick at least 100 bu boxes per day of fresh market fruit. All fruit to be handled with care to avoid bruising. Fruit injured by bruising shall not exceed 4% as defined in the US standard for grades. Inform farmers or farm manager of crop progress.
