Robert Half Accounts Receivable Clerk in New Orleans, Louisiana
Description
We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to join a team in New Orleans, Louisiana in a short-term contract capacity with the potential to become permanent. This position focuses on maintaining accurate receivables, supporting timely payment activity, and helping keep billing and cash posting processes organized. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, comfort working with commercial customers, and the ability to manage follow-up activities in a fast-paced accounting environment.
Responsibilities:
• Process customer invoices and maintain accurate accounts receivable records to support daily accounting operations.
• Apply incoming payments to the correct customer accounts and resolve discrepancies related to cash posting activity.
• Monitor outstanding balances and conduct consistent follow-up with commercial clients to collect overdue payments.
• Review account details, research payment issues, and coordinate with internal teams to address billing questions efficiently.
• Reconcile receivable transactions to ensure account balances remain current and properly documented.
• Support routine billing functions, including verifying invoice accuracy and preparing account updates as needed.
• Track collection activity and maintain clear records of customer communication, payment status, and open items.
Requirements • Experience working in accounts receivable within a business environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Background in commercial collections with the ability to communicate effectively regarding past-due balances.
• Hands-on knowledge of cash applications and payment posting procedures.
• Familiarity with cash collection practices and billing-related processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data and account records.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities, follow up consistently, and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel.
