Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will oversee various accounting functions, including grant management, financial reporting, and compliance monitoring. Responsibilities:
• Manage the full lifecycle of grants, including budget planning, financial monitoring, reporting, and closeout processes.
• Oversee grant expenditures to ensure they align with agreements, funding guidelines, and applicable regulations.
• Prepare and submit accurate financial reports and reimbursement requests for grants within established deadlines.
• Reconcile grant accounts and maintain accurate records of restricted funds.
• Provide documentation and financial support during grant audits and site visits.
• Perform general ledger tasks such as posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end close processes.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring proper expense coding to grants and funds.
• Assist with payroll allocations related to grants and restricted funding sources.
• Maintain financial records in compliance with organizational and regulatory policies.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial statements, audit schedules, and budgeting forecasts for grants and operations.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in accounting, with a preference for nonprofit or grant accounting expertise.
• Strong understanding of fund accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and formulas.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Experience with corporate tax, sales tax, and preparing corporate tax returns.
• Familiarity with journal entries and general ledger processes.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities effectively.
