Reports to: Production Supervisor The Machinist is responsible for all machined parts associated with the manufacturing process. The Machinist must ensure we meet our product specifications and utilize the appropriate manufacturing methods and fundamental technology used to develop new products or improve existing products. Machinist Role & Responsibilities • Operate a Toshiba vertical mill capable of 150” diameter product. manual operation with X,Y,Z readouts. • Operate a 4” Lucas horizontal mill, 12’ table, manual operation with X,Y,Z readouts. • Operate a 14” Le Blond manual lathe, three jaw & four jaw chuck with taper attachment. • Operate a Bridgeport milling machine with X,Y,Z readouts. • Operate a Carlson Drill press with 6’ radial arm. • Responsible for maintaining and ordering all tooling, fixtures and consumables. • Utilize the overhead crane and fork truck for loading and unloading machines. • Maintain a clean and safe work area. Removal of all chips and debris is a daily requirement. • Notifying management of equipment maintenance needs and perform routine machine maintenance as required. Request contracted maintenance assistance as needed. • Maintain appropriate workflow across all machining centers. • Ability to read and interpret fabrication and machining detail drawings. • Work seamlessly with other shop employees. • Provide improvement suggestions for new tooling and fixtures to increase throughput. Machinist Skills and Experience • KNOWLEDGE: Minimum of (2-3) years (s) of experience machining on manual equipment is preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge required. Experience with fixture and tooling design preferred. • SKILLS: o Ability to use a variety of hand tools. o Ability to climb stairs to accommodate machining equipment tables and set ups. o Ability to read machining prints and details. o Ability to use overhead cranes. (training provided) o Ability to operate forklifts. (training provided) o Ability to perform light welding is a plus o Familiarity with tooling and fixtures preferred. o Ensure we maintain a professional, safe, productive, and compliant work environment.
