Design Systems StrategistPosition OverviewOur client, a global pharmaceutical company, is seeking a freelance Design Systems Strategist to join their team. This role will focus on building and scaling a Figma-based design system from the ground up to support global, enterprise-level digital products.This is a 40hrs/week opportunity, about 3 months to start with potential to extend based on business need and performance. This is a fully remote opportunity, starting late February or early March after the onboarding process. The Design Systems Strategist will work closely with designers, engineers, and product teams to ensure the design system is practical, extensible, and tightly integrated with development workflows. Location: RemoteEngagement: Freelance, 3+ months, 40 hours/weekStart Date: As soon as 2/16/2026Key ResponsibilitiesLead the strategy, creation, and evolution of a scalable design system built primarily in FigmaDesign and document core UI components, patterns, tokens, and guidelines from scratchPartner closely with engineering teams to align design system components with coded componentsSupport integration with existing and future development systems, including APIs and front-end frameworksEstablish governance, contribution models, and best practices to ensure long-term adoption and consistencyEnsure the design system supports accessibility, usability, and regulatory considerations relevant to pharmaCollaborate with global teams as needed to ensure the system scales across products, brands, and regionsContinuously evaluate and improve the system based on product needs and user feedbackRequired QualificationsProven experience building and scaling Figma-based design systems from the ground upStrong UI and UX design background with a deep understanding of component-based designHands-on experience collaborating with engineering teams on design system implementationFamiliarity with design-to-code workflows and how design systems connect to development environmentsExperience designing systems that are global, modular, and scalableStrong documentation and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience working in regulated industries such as pharma, healthcare, or life sciencesKnowledge of front-end frameworks and how design systems map to themExperience establishing design system governance modelsExposure to API-driven or platform-based product ecosystemsIn this position, you may have access to client or customer systems, confidential and/or proprietary information or data.BenefitsCreative Circle's Freelance Employee benefits package includes eligibility for Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) medical plan, dental/vision/term life package, discount prescription program, critical illness, accident, tele-behavioral health, and 401(k) plan.
