Amergis Virtual EC Teacher in New Bern, North Carolina
Virtual Special Education Teacher (EC) – Homebound Students
Location: Remote (Serving students across the district)
Schedule: 37.5 hours/week | Monday–Friday
Contract: Through End of School Year (Last day: May 21, 2026)
Start Date: ASAP – March 16, 2026
We are seeking a dedicated Virtual Special Education Teacher (EC) to provide individualized instruction to homebound students from elementary through high school. This role supports the district’s growing homebound population and requires strong virtual teaching skills, flexibility, and a passion for serving diverse learners.
About the Role
Provide virtual instruction to assigned homebound K–12 students
Collaborate with parents/guardians to create student schedules
Deliver instruction 1–2 times per week per student (30 minutes–2 hours)
Maintain documentation in real time (recommended 5–10 mins per session)
Use Google Drive to manage assignments, materials, and communication
Work with students across multiple schools and grade levels
Use ECATS for service documentation
Participate in virtual meetings with EC staff and administrators
May be eligible for extension into the next school year based on performance
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Valid state teaching certificate per district/contract requirements
Special Education (EC) teaching background required
Virtual teaching experience beyond COVID (required)
Preferred certifications:
Standard Elementary Teaching
Standard Secondary Teaching
Standard Special Teaching
LBS1 Endorsement (preferred, not required)
CPR certification, TB/PPD if applicable
Meets all federal, state, and district regulations
Must be at least 18 years old
Schedule
Follows student schedules across grade levels:
High School: 7:20 AM – 2:40 PM
Elementary: 7:50 AM – 3:10 PM
Middle School: 8:20 AM – 3:40 PM
(Schedule varies based on assigned students)
