LEARNING EDGE CHILDCARE Preschool Assistant Teacher in NEW BERLIN, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the School Director, the Teacher Assistant follows the direction of the Lead Teacher / Teacher with the planning, implementing, and managing of the classroom environment and the Cadence educational programs. Assists in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow physically, socially, and emotionally. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Interact positively and treat each child with dignity and respect. Greet each child enthusiastically and establish a professional level of rapport with each family to provide quality care and friendly service. Maintain a positive atmosphere of child behavioral guidance and learning within established state staff/child ratios. 2. Recognize and address children\'s diverse learning styles, as well as social, cultural, emotional, developmental and educational needs. Sit and participate with children during meal and snack times. Help children with clothing, grooming, health habits and bathroom activities. Communicate observations to the Lead Teacher or Director. 3. Assist implementing curriculum and Cadence educational programs according to the guidelines established by Cadence Education. Help parents to understand the curriculum and signature programs. Work to involve them in the daily programs. 4. Utilizes required company resources to communication clearly, concisely, and respectfully with parents both verbally and in writing. 5. Adheres to Cadence Education Safety and Supervision Manual. Assists with ensuring compliance of all licensing and government health and safety standards mandated by OSHA and Cadence. Documents and reports all accidents and incidents to Cadence policy and state regulations. Teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students\' varying needs and interests. Serve meals and snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines. Attend to children\'s basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers. Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children\'s progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development. Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips. Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialists. Read books to entire classes or to small groups. Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of preschool programs. Meet with other professionals to discuss individual students\' needs and progress.
