The Technical Manager - Project Management plays a pivotal leadership role, overseeing the day-to-day operations of a high-performing project management organization. This individual is responsible for developing talent, ensuring operational excellence, and serving as a strategic partner to both internal teams and customers. The role combines people leadership, portfolio oversight, and business growth, with accountability for cost, quality, and schedule performance across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and Project Controls Analysts
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and professional growth through formal training and one-on-one mentorship
Proactively manage personnel matters, including hiring, performance management, promotions, workforce planning, and development needs
Project & Portfolio Oversight
Establish, monitor, and maintain performance standards across cost, quality, and schedule metrics
Oversee portfolio health, providing clear reporting on project status, risks, and key performance indicators
Hold teams accountable to approved baselines, ensuring changes are documented, evaluated, and approved in a timely manner
Customer & Stakeholder Partnership
Serve as the primary liaison for customers, addressing challenges, resolving inefficiencies, and strengthening long-term partnerships
Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to optimize workflows, processes, and resource utilization
Resolve escalated issues related to invoicing, resourcing, staffing, and project delivery
Business Growth & Operational Excellence
Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities with existing and target clients
Help scale the organization by supporting the development of new teams and expanding service offerings
Drive consistent project management practices that support operational efficiency and predictable delivery
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Accounting, Business, or a related field
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required)
10+ years of experience working with engineering, construction, planning, and project management teams
10+ years of experience in scheduling, project controls, project coordination, or project management on capital projects
Demonstrated success leading project portfolios exceeding $5M in revenue
Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience
Required Skills & Competencies
Proven ability to lead and inspire large, multi-disciplinary teams
Strong understanding of project controls, risk management, and project execution
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to customers and leaders
Passion for developing people—technically, professionally, and personally

High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
Collaborative mindset with experience working in cross-functional and virtual environments
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of New Albany, OH.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
