The Regulated Waste Coordinator will assist the Site Environmental Technician (SET) under the Environmental Assurance and Protection Org in implementation and enforcement of standards and policies to support environmental and regulatory compliance, and provide guidance for operations, maintenance and other stakeholders at the site. The individual will complete environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitor metrics, and assist teams in implementation of Amazon environmental standards. The Regulated Waste Coordinator will work with a potential range of internal partners that include warehouse operations teams, workplace health and safety staff, contractors, consultants, design, construction, and other key stakeholders.

Job Description:
• Function as Lead on the Hazardous Waste Team where products and hazardous materials such as contaminated products, items for destruction, disposal, resale, or donation are properly managed in a manner compliant with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. The Hazardous Waste Coordinator will also serve as the POC for incidental spill/leak/release cleanup activities
• Oversee the donations program. Liaison with local charities to certify eligibility, schedule pick-ups, and ensure donations are compliant with Amazon Policy.
• Reconciliation of site inventories, hazardous chemicals and waste materials; characterization/determination including proper segregation, containerizing, labeling and preparing for shipment, in accordance with DOT and RCRA requirements.
• Provide and facilitate all required training to associates in the hazardous waste stream including Hazardous Waste Associates and ICQA associates processing damages and destroys.
• Serve as designated Hazardous Waste representative of assigned Fulfillment Center (FC), coordinating and implementing all areas of the Amazon Hazardous Waste Program as directed by Environmental Technician of the FC.
• Physical maintenance and organization of the waste storage/management areas and all satellite accumulation areas, in accordance with regulatory requirements and applicable network policies.
• Waste record keeping, including waste generator logs and routine inspections.
• Liaison with Site Safety teams, ICQA, and facilities teams responsible for the generation and proper management and hazardous chemicals, hazardous and universal wastes.
• Must be trained to handle and process waste in accordance with RCRA (LQG), DOT, OSHA and state specific regulations and requirements.
• Organize and provide inventory orders for procurement.
Key job responsibilities
This is a hands-on position that includes time spent in the yard and on the floor of a busy fulfillment center conducting inspections and audits, providing guidance to other employees, ensuring proper waste classification, and dealing with multiple departments and levels of employees throughout the operation.
Basic Qualifications
1+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
High school or equivalent
Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
Can lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
Work 40 hours/week, and overtime as required
Continued meeting and exceeding of department performance goals
Associates must be in good standing
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and work with the highest level of accuracy
Able to work independently and within a team
Proven ability to work productively and efficiently in an independent setting
Proven ability to clearly communicate with managers and associates at all levels
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experience
Experience with waste management, especially hazardous or regulated wastes
Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) trained
DOT Hazardous Materials Training Experience with inventory, bin types, containers, and all tools used to move product throughout the warehouse
Understanding of Receiving processes and operations
Experience identifying and profiling chemical compositions
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and Explorer)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $18.50/hr in our lowest geographic market up to $24/hr in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
