JOB TITLE: PROJECT ENGINEER
About the Job:
The Project Engineer(PE) is a key member of the site operations team. The PE has a leadership andplanning role working with the Project Manager to assess and direct thefeasibility of the schedule and production. They review the technical plans of theproject, maintain comprehensive data for all aspects of the project, examinetrends and help determine how to manage change and growth. They make budgetrecommendations, estimate time requirements, and determine the resourcesnecessary for meeting all project goals.
Project engineers area liaison between the field technicians and the site management teams. Theirresponsibilities include but are not limited to scheduling, QA/QC, and safety.The PE communicates all aspects of the project to the extended teams ensuring athorough understanding of the overall project and plan of attack. They manageadherence to the site standards, procedures, and practices, and facilitaterecord-keeping of pertinent site records. They carry out the inspection of the constructionsite, review site practices, monitor the workflow and recommend/implement plansfor improvement.
What you will do:
Pre-Construction
· Provide technical expertise throughout the pre-constructionprocess.
· Participate in the constructability review and assessthe feasibility of the pre-Construction schedule.
· Will be involved in proposals and estimates during theproject pursuit process.
Project Planning and Execution
· Responsible for keeping all projects on schedule andon budget and meeting required deadlines.
· Supervising and supporting the project manager inkeeping all project logs current.
· If challenges arise on the site, the project engineermust work with the client to resolve them.
· Will ensure that submittals are obtained, reviewed,and approved, and that materials and equipment are released for fabrication intime for delivery as required at jobsite.
· Develop detailed project schedule in cooperation withthe project manager and superintendent.
· Assist in management of project permit process.
· Drives innovation and efficiency with newtechnologies, techniques, and pre-fabrication.
· Review design specifications, scope of work anddrawing packages for constructability.
· Assist with the modification/development of theconstruction and resource schedules.
· Update the construction schedule on a regular basis.
· Advise the project team of potential issues or deficiencies.
· Develop project and budget estimates.
· Ensure full visibility and understanding of theconstruction approach and relevant site standards to the extended team.
· Participate in periodic quality/safety checks toensure compliance to site standards.
· Analyze daily progress for compliance to expected schedule.
· Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor daily/weekly updates.
· Oversee Test result submittals and documentation submittals.
· Work with extended teams such as Safety, QA/QC to conduct sitespecific training.
· Review drawings and physically measure rooms to ensure they aretrue to specs for generating complete as-builds.
· Periodic change of duties upon request.
· Assist site management team with Change Orders, RFI’s,Submittal packages, and possible design changes.
Post Construction
· Assist site management team with as-builts and otherrelated close-out documents e.g., certified test results, and as-builts.
· Contribute and participate in project lessons learned.
Client Engagement
· Understand and communicate to all field personnel thegoals regarding construction.
· Maintain positive relationships with the clientthroughout the project(s)
What you will need:
· Bachelor’s degree in computerscience, business management, electrical engineering, construction managementor similar experience
· 5+ years of direct workexperience in any of these areas: construction management, data centers, orstructured cabling environment
· Proficient with MicrosoftOffice.
· Must have demonstratedverifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, developdetailed associated tasks, and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
· Must have proven high skilllevel to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but notlimited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
· Ability to use specializedsoftware for collaboration and time management, including spreadsheets,Bluebeam etc.
· Thorough knowledge of legalissues and safety standards is essential.
· Experience with inventorycontrol and process improvement
· Strong time management andanalytical skills
· Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and Windows basedcomputer applications with intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
· Ability to multitask and lead initiatives.

What You’ll Need:
High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 3-4 years of job-related experience. Completion of a formal apprenticeship program preferred.
Master Electrician license helpful.
In depth knowledge of Electrical Line Drawings, Panel numbering, Breaker size ratings and trip settings.
In depth NFPA 70e requirements
Valid Driver's license is required.
Medium Voltage Switchgear experience
Low voltage Switchgear experience
Some AC/DC control wiring experience
Electrical Maintenance experience i.e.: Switchgear / Breaker injection / panelboard.
Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
Understanding of existing procedures and standards to solve slightly complex problems.
Ability to analyze possible solutions using technical experience to apply appropriate judgment and precedents.
Strong organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset.
Advanced math skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide

CBRE/Direct Line carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Project Engineer - Data Center position is $85,000 annually [or $40.87 per hour] and the maximum salary for the Project Engineer - Data Center position is $100,000 annually [or $48.08 per hour]. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
