Job Description:
Help shape smarter decisions and build a team that does underwriting the right way. As a Lead Underwriter, you’ll guide a small team, bringing together commercial insight and forward thinking to help drive growth across the region in a collaborative environment where people can do their best work.
Your benefits
An annual gross salary of €70,000 to €75,000, depending on your professional experience, including an attractive stock bonus

Your tasks
Lead and develop a small underwriting team, setting clear priorities and supporting strong commercial outcomes
Underwrite new and renewal marine risks, maintaining a balanced portfolio in line with company guidelines
Analyse submissions, claims history, and loss ratios to support sound pricing and decision making
Manage complex and large deals from initial submission through to proposal and binding
Ensure underwriting activity complies with authorities, governance standards, and regulatory requirements
Partner with claims, data, and sales teams to identify risk trends and support a smooth customer experience
Your skills
Proven experience in underwriting, supported by an insurance or underwriting qualification
Previous experience leading or mentoring a team, with the ability to set priorities and monitor performance
Strong numerical and analytical skills
High attention to detail, with the ability to interpret data accurately and apply sound judgement
Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to work comfortably with internal stakeholders and external customers.
Fluent in German and English – French or Italian language skills are a plus
