United States Fleet Forces Command SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in Naval Shipyard, Virginia

Summary You will serve as a SUPERVISORY ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (NUCLEAR) in the Nuclear Production Quality Control Branch (300N.12), Deputy Nuclear Manager (300N.1), Nuclear Production Manager (Code 300N), Production Resources Department (900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will ensure nuclear work is executed to the required standard, on time and within budget. You will establish and manage a Quality Program that maintains required standards and improves performance. You will provide extensive technical and administrative supervision to a staff responsible for developing, engineering, implementing and managing quality control programs for the Production Resources and Operations Department. You will identify and initiate nuclear process improvement actions. You will review nuclear worker and supervisor qualification requirements and training courses. You will review revised and new nuclear instructions to determine effect on nuclear operations. You will make field inspections to determine design requirements and the adequacy of existing engineering and design features and to assure conformance to plans and specifications. You will plan and assign work, ensure timely completion and quality of work. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience performing concepts, principles, and practices of nuclear engineering that enables the engineering technician to serve as the Production Resource Department's technical authority on shipyard nuclear production quality and also radiological controls and production techniques, associated with the repair, overhaul, refueling, decontamination, and operation of naval nuclear reactor plants. Experience developing innovative approaches and resolutions to problems and situations encountered. Experience continuously meeting goals, when emergent or changing programs/requirements are presented. Experience resolving unique problems. Experience utilizing knowledge related engineering fields such as mechanical and electrical. Experience demonstrating functional responsibilities, department policies, and administrative constraints which impact the nuclear program is required.
