United States Fleet Forces Command ORDNANCE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in Naval Base, Virginia

Responsibilities You will perform maintenance, assembly and disassembly procedures on Gun Can and Rocket launcher systems in support of Armed Helo Operations. You will support specialized fleet operations involving the handling of Long Bow Hellfire and Coyote missile systems, requiring a Category 3 Non-Cab operated overhead crane qualification. You will schedule, perform and record corrective and scheduled preventive maintenance on submarine weapons, ordnance handling equipment, launching devices and test gear and document results. You will follow established policies and procedures to safely and economically accomplish work assignments within priority schedules set by management. You will transport/install/remove VLS Loading Platforms on submarines in support of ordnance operations and maintenance actions. You will operate forklift trucks inside and outside of production buildings and magazines, trucks and other confined spaces on ramps and outside areas having unpaved, unimproved or rough surfaces. You will conduct receipt and transfer inspections of CLS Missile Tube ballast cans, examine ordnance materials for defects, including missiles, associated components and various other hazardous or inert materials. You will ensure a safe and secure work environment, inspect assigned areas for cleanliness, neatness, and compliance with regulations and policies. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Performs and records corrective and scheduled preventative maintenance on submarine weapon and ordnance handling equipment as required. Operates forklift trucks inside and outside of production buildings and magazines, trucks and other confined spaces on ramps and outside areas. Performs receipt, storage, segregation, inspect, and issue ordnance material. Assures the quality, quantity and safety of ordnance materials and operations as related to the receipt, storage, issue, handling, packing and shipping of such items. Performs receipt and issue inspections on ordnance items and certify OTR shipments. Conducts on/offload of ordnance materials to include Tomahawk VLS/CLS assets. Possess knowledge of 20MM and 2.75-inch rocket loading procedures to support the Armed Helo Program. Required to operate motor vehicles to support the movement of ordnance materials.
