Ford Motor Company EDS Engineer (Pre-Program) in Naucalpan de Juárez, Mexico

The EDS Core Engineer (Advanced Pre-Programs) is responsible for the design, costing, and sourcing of wiring harnesses during the early stages of program development (Pre-TSC/UNV0), including development and validation. The EDS Core Packaging Engineer is responsible for design optimization and improvements to enhance quality, reduce costs, and minimize weight.

  1. Conduct initial EDS impact packaging studies for new program content or implementation of new electrical architectures.

  2. Generate cost estimates (EDS Provisions) based on new program changes and ensure precise cost targets are established by the program. (Piece Price, ED&T & Tooling)

  3. Ensure optimal implementation of EDS content in new programs by minimizing wire length, EDS components, and wiring complexity.

  4. Complies with program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.

  5. Initiate Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality history, P-Diagram, FMEA Plan, etc.).

  6. Knowledge and application of six sigma and 8D

  7. Leads EDS TDR Design Reviews

  8. Audit and update FEDEBOM with correct part levels and usage, for Pre-TSC audits.

  9. Resolution of EDS issues in early design stages.

  10. Analyze and breakdown early PDL and Trim Spiders.

  11. Generate proposals to minimize giveaway cost and reduce total part count.

  12. Generate proposals to minimize use of EDS brackets and jumpers.

  13. Identify opportunities to optimize topology and wire length.

  14. Perform initial Harness Complexity Analysis.

  15. Perform engineering cost estimates.

  16. Perform quality analysis of surrogate program to avoid issue recurrence.

  17. Complies with GPDS deliverables (applicable to EDS) for each milestone.

  18. Initiate and complete EDS sourcing for LV wiring.

  • Engineering Degree (electrical/electronic desirable) or related disciplines.

  • Strong English Proficiency (written, read, and oral).

  • Basic 3D CAD Knowledge (TCE, Catia V5)

  • Microsoft Office Usage (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio).

  • Time and Project Management.

  • Ford GPDS.

  • Understanding of EDS design

  • Understanding of feature partitioning.

  • Understanding of automotive systems.
