Job Summary and Qualifications
The Senior Data Analyst is part of the Clinical Services Group (CSG) Data & Analytics organization at HCA. This technically focused and hospital-facing team is responsible for enterprise clinical reporting and analytics. With a mission to reduce avoidable variation in clinical practice, the team delivers actionable, transparent analytics that drive measurable improvements in care quality and operational performance.
As a member of the Analytics Products team, the Senior Data Analyst is responsible for the end-to-end development and support of enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) products — from clinical data discovery and advanced SQL development to semantic model design, dashboard creation, and deployment within Microsoft Power BI.
This role requires close collaboration with clinical leaders, operational stakeholders, and data engineering partners to translate complex clinical and business needs into scalable, high-quality BI solutions. The Senior Data Analyst must demonstrate strong communication skills, technical expertise in Power BI and SQL, and the ability to develop subject matter expertise in clinical data domains.
This position is ideal for a collaborative, self-motivated analytical professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about using data to promote clinical excellence across HCA facilities.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, datasets, and semantic models that inform performance-to-goal and drive Care Excellence at scale
•Develop and standardize clinical KPIs aligned to defined business requirements and regulatory or operational priorities
•Write advanced SQL across multiple platforms (e.g., Google BigQuery, Teradata, SQL Server) to extract, transform, and model complex clinical data
•Perform data discovery, validation, cleansing, and analysis of new clinical and vendor-sourced datasets
•Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Power BI, including UX/UI best practices, DAX development, performance optimization, deployment pipelines, row-level security implementation, and Enterprise semantic model design
•Lead mid-scale projects independently with oversight by Manager as needed; spanning stakeholder engagement through final BI deployment and post-launch support
•Present analytics findings to executive and clinical audiences
•Facilitate effective and respectful communication among all team members and leadership to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs, expectations and requirements
•Serve as a mentor to less experienced team members and provide second-level review of BI products to ensure technical and visualization quality
•Promote BI development best practices, documentation standards, and governance alignment
•Contribute to data investigation and issue resolution efforts through the enterprise ticketing system
•Maximize productivity and accountability through effective time management, coordination, and communication
•Perform other related duties as assigned to support the CSG Analytics Team
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
•College Degree 3 plus years of related experience.
•Expert knowledge of BI Platforms required (Microsoft PowerBI experience preferred). Advanced SQL required (Google BigQuery, MSSQL, or Teradata).
•Experience working with healthcare or clinical data preferred (e.g., EMR data, quality measures, regulatory reporting, operational KPIs)
•Proven ability to derive value from data
•Proven ability to work independently
•Willingness and enthusiasm to learn in a fast paced and variable environment
•Demonstrated ability to engage confidently with clinical and hospital-based leadership
•Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex findings to non-technical audiences
•Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems
