Contract Length: 8 Weeks

Position Overview
The School Registered Nurse (RN) supports the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students participating in summer programs. This role oversees the application of the nursing process and ensures safe, effective delivery of student healthcare services in an academic residential setting.
The School RN plays a critical role in student safety, medication management, chronic condition oversight, and emergency response, while serving as a trusted liaison between families, school staff, and healthcare providers. All services are provided in alignment with Amergis’ philosophy, policies, professional standards, and physician orders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care to students in a school and residential program setting
Promote student health, wellness, and safety through assessment, planning, and intervention
Respond to medical emergencies and provide timely, appropriate care
Manage and oversee medication protocols, including inhalers, EpiPens, ADHD medications, and daily prescriptions
Support medication check-in/check-out processes, including coordination for students traveling independently
Collaborate with program staff, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers
Educate and support staff on health protocols and emergency procedures
Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with policy and regulation
Uphold university guidelines, state requirements, and professional nursing standards
Minimum Requirements
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Tennessee
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing , preferred
School Nurse Certification , if required by state or contract
Minimum one year of experience in school nursing, pediatric nursing, or public health (preferred)
Current CPR certification, if applicable
TB screening (questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray), if applicable
Current health certificate per state or contract requirements
Ability to meet all federal, state, and local employment requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older
