Job Title: General Production Worker

Job Description

This role supports a busy steel warehouse operation by running CNC and other production machinery, moving materials, cleaning equipment and parts, and performing quality checks. You will work on a designated shift to ensure that machines run efficiently, materials flow smoothly, and finished parts meet quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines and other production equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Load raw materials into CNC machines and set up jobs according to work orders.

  • Change over CNC machines between jobs, including adjusting settings and tooling as needed.

  • Edit and troubleshoot CNC code to correct issues and maintain product quality.

  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on CNC machines to keep equipment in good working condition.

  • Conduct quality checks on materials and finished parts using measuring devices such as tape measures and micrometers.

  • Read and interpret blueprints and job orders to understand specifications and production requirements.

  • Enter job orders into CNC machines accurately to ensure correct programming and output.

  • Operate a front-end loader to move materials to and from storage racks in a safe and controlled manner.

  • Load and unload flatbed trucks with materials and finished products.

  • Handle materials throughout the facility using forklifts, front-end loaders, and other material handling equipment.

  • Clean CNC equipment and parts to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area.

  • Use power tools and hand tools to support machining, mechanical assembly, and general production tasks.

  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working in a steel warehouse environment.

  • Work collaboratively with team members and communicate any equipment issues, quality concerns, or production delays to the appropriate personnel.

Essential Skills

  • Experience operating CNC machines and other production machinery.

  • Ability to load, set up, and change over CNC machines for different jobs.

  • Skill in editing and troubleshooting CNC code to resolve basic programming or operational issues.

  • Experience performing preventative maintenance on CNC machines or similar equipment.

  • Proficiency in using measuring devices such as tape measures and micrometers for inspection and quality checks.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders.

  • Experience with material handling, including operating forklifts and front-end loaders.

  • Capability to operate a front-end loader to move materials safely within a warehouse or yard.

  • Experience loading and unloading flatbed trucks.

  • Comfort working with power tools and basic mechanical assembly tasks.

  • Ability to work in a physical, industrial environment and handle repetitive tasks safely.

  • Willingness and ability to work assigned shift hours (1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a steel warehouse or heavy industrial environment.

  • Experience in machining or machine operating in a production setting.

  • Familiarity with overhead crane operation for moving steel and large materials.

  • Comfort using various measuring devices beyond tape measures and micrometers to verify dimensions.

  • Previous experience as a loader, machine operator, CNC operator, or parts cleaner.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work orders accurately.

  • Reliability in attendance and punctuality for shift-based work.

Work Environment

The role is based in a steel warehouse environment that is not climate-controlled and can be dirty and physically demanding. You will work around heavy materials, CNC machines, forklifts, front-end loaders, and other industrial equipment. The work involves standing, walking, lifting, and operating machinery throughout the shift. Available schedules include 1st shift (5:30 AM – 1:30 PM, Monday through Friday), 2nd shift (1:30 PM – 9:30 PM, Monday through Friday), and 3rd shift (9:30 PM – 5:30 AM, Sunday through Thursday). Appropriate industrial workwear and personal protective equipment are required to ensure safety in this active production environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $24.00/hr.
