Job Title: Production Planner Job Description
The Production Planner operates independently within the Production Control team to support smooth material flow and on-time production. This role oversees inventory levels for parts, components, and raw materials, coordinating purchasing, scheduling, and vendor communications to ensure production requirements are met. The Production Planner also monitors the status of customer orders and manufacturing activities to identify delays, expedite priorities, and resolve issues. This position maintains accurate production information within ERP/MRP systems and related databases.
Responsibilities
Develops production schedules—daily and weekly—by evaluating customer demand, equipment capacity, and material availability. Works to balance workload, maximize efficiency, and continually refine scheduling practices.
Monitors schedule performance, identifies bottlenecks, and collaborates across departments to maintain uninterrupted workflow. Adjusts schedules as needed and communicates changes to all impacted teams.
Participates in daily GEMBA walks, addressing open items and supporting continuous improvement efforts on the production floor.
Works closely with purchasing and inventory teams to maintain adequate raw material levels and ensure all required components are available to meet production timelines.
Supports the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process by providing data-driven insights on inventory, order trends, supplier performance, and broader market conditions.
Tracks key departmental metrics, such as On-Time Delivery and Schedule Attainment, providing regular reporting and adhering to ISO 9001 standards, specifically relating to material management, procurement, and inventory control, and ensures related procedures are followed.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, support process improvements, and promote operational excellence throughout the organization.
Essential Skills

Ability to positively influence and collaborate with materials, production, and cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills required.
Intermediate to advanced experience using ERP/MRP platforms; familiarity with M1 is preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of wire‑industry products is preferred.
High school diploma required.
Minimum of 3 years of production planning experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Work Environment
Work is performed primarily indoors in a climate‑controlled manufacturing and office setting. The environment typically has moderate noise levels, with occasional exposure to moving mechanical equipment. Periodic travel may be needed to meet with suppliers, visit customers, or attend industry-related trainings and events.

The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $83200.00/yr.
