Job Description:

Lab Technician

Overview

The Lab Technician supports laboratory operations by receiving, preparing, and analyzing water samples while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.

This role may encompass entry-level through advanced responsibilities depending on experience and proficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Sample Receiving & Processing

• Batch, sort, and log incoming samples accurately.
• Perform all sample receiving duties, ensuring proper documentation and chain of custody.
• Print labels, prepare batch sheets, and complete basic sample preparation tasks.

Sample Preparation & Testing

• Conduct basic and intermediate sample preparation techniques on water samples.
• Run routine tests such as conductivity measurements and other assigned analytical methods.
• Develop expertise in at least one laboratory test method, performing tests for the team as needed.
• Participate in improving precision and accuracy of test methods through data analysis or statistical experiments.

Continuous Improvement & Support

• Assist in projects related to test method optimization, process improvements, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, following all lab safety and quality protocols.
• Support cross-functional lab activities as needed.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
• Ability to perform essential duties accurately within required timeframes.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory quality standards.
• Willingness to learn and increase technical competency over time.
