A Day in the Life

The Data Platform & Services (DPS) value stream is responsible for overseeing enterprise data assets across the organization. This includes the management of data and analytics platforms, governance of data solutions, ensuring data quality and timeliness, maintaining data interfaces, enabling seamless integration with external systems, and supporting advanced analytics capabilities.

Within this stream, the Enterprise Data Governance team plays a vital role by delivering metadata management services through the Enterprise Data Catalog (Atlan). These services empower business users to efficiently discover and access the data they need, and include capabilities such as metadata management, data lineage tracking, transformation logic transparency, and standardized business terminology.

We are looking for a seasoned and highly skilled Principal Product Analyst (PA) with deep expertise in metadata integration and data governance solutions, specifically utilizing Atlan. In this role, you will be instrumental in analyzing business challenges and identifying opportunities, gathering and refining technical requirements, and designing future-state processes and automation solutions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong proficiency across data platforms, automation technologies, cloud technologies (AWS S3), security and system integration. Your contributions will directly impact on our ability to deliver meaningful data insights, driving improved operational efficiency and supporting strategic decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage enterprise password vault and ensure consistent credential integrity across all systems.

  • Design, develop, and implement robust data integration solutions across systems and applications, using APIs, and integration tools such as Atlan.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements for data integration and metadata management initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical specifications.

  • Integrate metadata management tools with relational databases, ELT pipelines, and BI platforms to support enterprise-wide data transparency and governance.

  • Maintain, manage, and communicate the technical roadmap for new connector deployments and ensure alignment with key stakeholders

  • Ensure catalog and governance coverage aligns to enterprise data governance policies

  • Identify, inform, and suggest new product functionality deployments and enablement for prioritization and implementation

  • Partner with data stewards to identify, define, and maintain critical business and technical metadata, and ensure comprehensive documentation.

  • Ensure comprehensive metadata availability in Atlan by reviewing data assets and verifying data lineage, with a focus on maintaining traceability, accuracy, and transparency of data movement across systems, including associated transformations and controls.

  • Leverage cloud technologies such as AWS S3 for scalable storage of metadata and architectural resources.

  • Develop and execute testing protocols to validate integration flows and data functionality, ensuring the quality and integrity of both data and metadata.

  • Monitor data integration pipelines, perform root cause analysis, and implement resolutions to technical and process-related issues.

  • Conduct ad hoc system and data analysis to optimize and troubleshoot integrations across environments.

  • Produce clear and comprehensive documentation of technical specifications, processes, and integration workflows for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external vendors to resolve support issues, manage help desk interactions, and promote operational efficiency.

  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with product managers, developers, data architects and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.

  • Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation and staying current with emerging trends in cloud and metadata technologies.

  • Apply ITIL best practices to enhance service consistency, streamline processes, and elevate overall IT ecosystem performance.

  • Support data governance initiatives, regulatory compliance, and information security across the organization.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Overall 12+ years of IT experience with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, MCA, or MSc.

  • 9+ years of experience as a Product Analyst, Data Integration Analyst/ Engineer, Metadata Analyst, or a similar role.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and derive insights.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including SQL, Excel, and potentially Python or R.

  • Experience with enterprise data management platforms and tools, including data governance tools and metadata repositories (e.g., Atlan, Collibra, Informatica Metadata Manager, Alation, etc.).

  • Working knowledge of architectural diagrams, data modeling concepts, integration technologies and data warehousing.

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying RESTful APIs.

  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, particularly Agile.

  • Demonstrates proficiency in English with strong written and verbal communication skills required to succeed in a global work environment.
