Medtronic Principal Data Architect - SAP in Nanakramguda, India

A Day in the Life

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect offsite to provide strategic and hands-on leadership for our SAP-centric enterprise data architecture. This role will be delivered from an offsite / offshore location and will partner closely with onshore stakeholders, SAP functional teams, and data engineering teams to design, govern, and optimize data models within SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) and SAP Datasphere. This person will also be responsible for investigating and exploring new AI use cases such as Joule AI utilizing the SAP BDC architecture.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in SAP data modeling, ABAP CDS views, AI use cases, and enterprise analytics architecture, with a proven ability to operate effectively in a distributed, global delivery model.

ABAP CDS, Data Modeling

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

Enterprise Data Architecture:

  • Define and maintain SAP-aligned data architecture standards for analytics and reporting in an offsite delivery model.

  • Serve as the architect for SAP Business Data Cloud and SAP Datasphere implementations.

  • Provide design guidance, reviews, and architectural approvals remotely across multiple workstreams.

SAP Data Modeling & CDS Expertise:

  • Design, Develop, and govern semantically rich, business-consumable data models in SAP Datasphere.

  • Lead the creation, enhancement, and performance optimization of ABAP CDS views for analytical and reporting use cases.

  • Ensure consistent business definitions, KPIs, and hierarchies across SAP and downstream platforms.

Data Provisioning & Integration:

  • Architect scalable patterns for data provisioning from SAP ECC and S/4HANA to enterprise analytics platforms.

  • Support integration of SAP data with non-SAP sources and cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks).

  • Enable reusable SAP data products for finance, operations, and analytics teams.

Governance, Quality & Compliance:

  • Collaborate remotely with governance and security teams to ensure data quality, lineage, and auditability.

  • Support financial and regulatory reporting requirements, including SOX-relevant datasets.

  • Define reference architectures for trusted, controlled data consumption.

Onsite/Offshore Collaboration & Delivery:

  • Work closely with onshore business stakeholders, architects, and product owners across time zones.

  • Translate business and functional requirements into clear technical designs and modeling standards.

  • Mentor offshore architects and senior engineers; enforce best practices through design reviews and documentation.

  • Strong alignment between SAP business semantics and enterprise reporting platforms.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any stream, or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, or SAP analytics roles.

  • Good to have hands-on experience with SAP Business Data Cloud and SAP Datasphere.

  • Advanced expertise in ABAP CDS views, including analytical modeling and performance tuning.

  • Solid understanding of SAP ECC and S/4HANA data structures and analytical consumption patterns.

  • Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale SAP analytics initiatives in a remote or offshore delivery model.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with global, distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications,

  • Experience with S/4HANA Finance data models (ACDOCA, COPA, Financial Master Data).

  • Experience utilizing and adopting AI agents such as Joule in BDC.

  • Exposure to cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks) and enterprise BI tools.

  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and master data concepts.

  • Prior experience supporting large SAP transformations or data modernization programs.

  • High-quality SAP data models and CDS views delivered consistently from an offsite location.

  • Clear, reusable architectural patterns adopted across SAP analytics initiatives.
