TRIDENT SEAFOODS CORPORATION DOCK SUPERVISOR in Naknek, Alaska
Summary:
Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in dock and shipping and receiving activities which include unloading/loading of vessels, barges, and skiffs. Inspects shipments for proper quantity and quality. Coordinates and directs employee in pumping operations of fishing vessels either directly or through subordinates.
Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)
- Supervises the operations of fish pumps.
- Manages dock staff.
- Responsible for training of dock staff to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Responsible for record keeping of all incoming and outgoing freight and product. Recording weights, box counts, parcels accurately.
- Coordinate, prioritize, supervise, and assist with loading/unloading activities.
- Provide accuracy on all tally sheets, receiving reports, and movement sheets.
- Responsible for ensuring dock operations meet environmental and safety regulations and policies.
- Responsible for overseeing dock maintenance and repair.
- Assists in scheduling fish deliveries and all related regulatory reporting requirements.
- Responds to change productively and handles other duties as required.
- Follows Company policies and procedures.
- Actively participates in safety policies, activities and implementations.
- Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)
- Must be a current Trident Seafoods employee or have worked for Trident Seafoods before
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to two years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have knowledge of forklift operations with certification.
- Must be familiar with automatic scales for weighing fish.
- Familiarity of crane and hoist operations required.
- Knowledgeable and trained in Coast Guard reaction plan to spillage of diesel, oil, gasoline, and other discharge.
- Must have knowledge of Alaska Commercial Fishing reporting requirements.
Work environment (includes travel/on-call):
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
