Job description
Role Description:
In this position you will be responsible for the application of electronic system skills within a multi-functional engineering team to support new business acquisition, new product introduction (NPI), new technology development, continuity of production and root-cause failure investigation. For NPI you will be key in supporting design, development, development, verification, and validation for products that contain electronic controller for electric motor actuation systems for use in demanding aerospace environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Detailed design, build, test and analysis of electronic circuits for new products, with full regard to available technology, in-service reliability, cost and schedule.
Coordinate and review electronics design definition documentation describing the design solution and the rationale behind it.
Support generation of test plans to support system integration and verification.
Support conceptual design of electronics solutions for bids and proposals.
Direct electronics fault investigations to component level, in a timely manner.
Support and review of test equipment specification, procurement and validation.
Review and assess electronics data from suppliers, e.g., proposals and test reports.
Generate / review electronics sub-system specifications.
Presentations - written and verbal - to internal and external customers.
Oversee the project multifunctional integrated product teams (IPT), which is responsible for delivering a project.
Collaborate with engineering teams at other Safran Actuation locations.
Contribute to the development of Standard Work in electronics and the sharing of best practice within the Safran Actuation team.
Collaborates with System Architect, discipline leads and Project Manager to define the Delivery/Release Plan based on the customer requirements
Support milestones review like PDR, CDR, TRR and SOI audits as per DO-254 standards
Support Technology level reviews and their maturity to implement in new products
Candidate skills & requirements
Experience and Skills:
15+ years of Industry experience with experience in Systems/Electronics product development
Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline or demonstrable experience, preferably in aerospace. Experience in aerospace or a similar safety critical industry would be an advantage.
Electronic Engineering hardware design skills, with ability in complex analysis.
Understanding of motor drive systems and controllers
Undertake tasks with minimum supervision or guidance.
Familiarity with industry best practices including EMC.
Familiarity with qualification of Aerospace Electronics including Military Standards and RTCA DO-160.
Work consistently to Safran Actuation procedures and best practices.
Good verbal and written communication skills, in English.
Problem Solving ability.
Self-motivated, with a proactive approach, team spirit, high energy level and a positive outlook.
Time management / Programme management skills.
Knowledge of electronic component supply chain and certification standards like RTCA DO-254 and ARP4754 is desirable.
