Job Description:
The Clinical Excellence Education Specialist reports to the Director of Clinical Education and Practice Excellence or Clinical Professional Development Manager. This role supports service line initiatives by planning and creating education in support of clinical and professional standards of care for the related service line or compliance standards. In support of alignment with Intermountain Health’s mission, vision and operating models for continuous improvement, this role collaborates with key stakeholders across the service line and organization to plan education and training materials and activities to meet caregiver needs. Additionally, the Clinical Excellence Education Specialist will oversee orientation curriculums to ensure caregiver competency, quality, and operational efficiency. This role expertly utilizes evidence-based best educational practice standards, fostering learning and sparking the spirit of inquiry. The Clinical Excellence Education Specialist ensures the consistency and quality of educational materials, learning experiences, and staff development across their clinical service lines and programs. They conduct regular learning needs assessments to ensure alignment with system policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards. Additionally, they design and deliver evidence-based educational content to address practice and performance gaps.

Essential Functions
Works in conjunction with other members of clinical leadership and education teams to ensure that Intermountain has a well-trained, competent workforce.
Develops educational materials in their area of expertise that are effective and efficient adhering to Intermountain standards of quality.
Provides subject matter expertise during the design, development, implementation and assessment of training and educational projects.
Responsible for oversight of educational materials and training programs that support the entry level caregiver pipelines.
Ensures that training and competency assessment programs and solutions are in place and applies knowledge of regulatory requirements within designated expertise.
Ensures that clinical content remains current, regularly reviewed, and supported with policies, procedures, guidelines, publications, and resources.
Actively collaborates providing subject matter expertise in the developing and refining system policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to specialty.
Incorporates knowledge of policies, procedures, and guidelines pertaining to their service line or specialty program into education content and resources.
Partners with experts and specialty lanes to ensure readiness to and compliance with system and clinical specialty regulations.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a relevant clinical discipline. Degree must be obtained through an accredited institution (degree verification required)
Current license in state of practice in a relevant clinical discipline
Demonstrated experience in development, management, and implementation of major learning/development initiatives
Demonstrated performance consulting skills with all levels of leadership that ensure the effective use of learning to support desired outcomes
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and influence across a large, matrixed organization
Demonstrated experience in a role requiring collaboration and strong customer service orientation, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with professionals at all levels
Demonstrated experience working in interdisciplinary relationships and collaborative efforts to design and implement optimal learning solutions
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet deadlines
Experience in a role requiring effective verbal, written, interpersonal, and consensus-building communication skills.
Ability to travel on occasion
Must reside within the footprint of Intermountain Health
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in education, clinical discipline, or related field (degree verification required)
Current Professional Educator Certification
Proficient in Automation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Microsoft Office Suite, and Instructional Design Tools
Certified in a Clinical Specialty Area
Advanced Data Analytics and Interpretations Skills
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
