Physical labor is needed for farm activities involved in burley tobacco production which includes harvesting andstripping of burley tobacco. Two months experience is necessary in the production of burley tobacco. Work inthe fields can begin early in the morning when the leaves are wet with dew and the work will continue all day longeven in weather conditions that can be as hot as over 100 degrees. Workers are required to be physically fit andable to perform the duties while standing, bending, stooping, walking and lifting sticks of tobacco, that weigh up to60 pounds, all day long and while standing on rails that can be as high as forty feet from the ground on tiers fourfeet wide and six feet high. The worker is required to cut and spike no less than an average of 100 sticks, sixplants per stick, per hour each hour during the cutting process. Workers must be able to work as a group, keepingpace with other workers in the production of the tobacco. All the time care must be exercised to prevent bruisingand breaking of the tobacco plants and leaves. Care must be exercised in using the tobacco knife, spear andwhile climbing and standing on the rails. James Wilson is involved in the cutting, housing and stripping of tobaccoand other work on his properties in Hart, Edmonson and Grayson counties, KY. James Wilson will make daily individual work assignments,crew assignments and location of work as the needs of the operation dictate. Land is owned or leased butcontrolled by James Wilson. Workers may be assigned a variety of duties in any given day and different task ondifferent days only on land either owned, leased but controlled by James Wilson. Steady and reliable attendance is a required must to each aspect of this job.
