Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Job Description
The Laboratory Technician supports the production and quality control of dietary supplements by performing laboratory tests, inspections, and documentation to ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 111 regulations. The role involves testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products for identity, purity, strength, and composition using analytical techniques such as HPLC, FTIR, UV-Vis, and wet chemistry. The technician maintains accurate lab records, calibrates instruments, prepares reagents, and assists in investigating non-conformances. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and collaboration with Quality Assurance and Production teams to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
Oversee the overall laboratory performance and execution of laboratory processes.
Support daily functions for testing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods.
Develop work instructions for testing procedures.
Ensure compliance with Title 21 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) in lab testing.
Design and implement Quality Assurance Programs for laboratory personnel.
Perform, analyze, and interpret microbial samples.
Analyze identity, purity, strength, and composition of raw materials, batch samples, and finished goods.
Remove biohazard waste properly.
Send batch samples and finished goods for label claim testing.
Conduct moisture testing on batch samples.
Perform water activity testing on gummy samples.
Conduct specific gravity testing on liquid samples.
Perform monthly water testing.
Develop and conduct shelf-life stability testing programs.
Write technical procedures, protocols, and reports.
Document testing and results in accordance with cGMP requirements.
Calibrate and verify equipment accuracy.
Assist with general laboratory housekeeping.
Support R&D with testing developing products.
Maintain glassware by cleaning, sterilizing, and storing.
Manage laboratory supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
Ensure equipment operation by following instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing maintenance.
Maintain daily, weekly logs, and equipment record books.
Resolve issues by examining data and selecting corrective actions.
Participate in project meetings and group discussions.
Enhance job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
Essential Skills
1-3 years of hands-on laboratory experience (academic or industry).
Experience with GMP, documentation, microbiology, and laboratory procedures.
Comfortable with reading and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Proficiency in FTIR, with potential training available if strong experience in other areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mundelein, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
