Burns & McDonnell India’s Water Global Practice in Mumbai is seeking to hire a Process Engineer to support the design and engineering of process systems associated with municipal and industrial water treatment, wastewater treatment, desalination, RO, ultrapure water, and demineralization facilities.
As part of our growing Process Technology team, the Process Engineer will work on global EPC and design build projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams across multiple Burns & McDonnell offices. This position offers significant opportunities for technical development, project exposure, and long term career growth.
Key Responsibilities
Process selection based on lab reports and effluent parameters, including evaluation of treatment technologies for water and wastewater applications.
Preparation of BFD, PFD, MSD, P&ID, and PDS deliverables as per project requirements and global standards.
Development of heat & material balances, mass balance calculations, and process modeling inputs.
Preparation of process design basis and all supporting process documentation.
Process equipment and line sizing, including pump hydraulic calculations, vessel sizing, and pipe sizing.
Development of plant layouts and hydraulic profiles for treatment facilities.
Participation in HAZOP studies, model reviews, and process safety evaluations.
Preparation of area classification documents and utility load lists.
Development of control philosophy, valve operating sequences, and system operating logic.
Preparation of documents for Performance Guarantee (PG) test runs and commissioning related process activities.
Preparation of technical specifications and datasheets for process package equipment and systems.
Preparation of Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE) and vendor drawing reviews for process packages.
Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across multiple Burns & McDonnell offices for project execution and adherence to design standards.
Quality assurance, adherence to project schedules, and meeting client expectations for process deliverables.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) / Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Chemical Engineering.
3 to 4 years of experience in process engineering for water / wastewater / desalination / RO / ultrapure water or industrial water systems.
Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (API 676, 675, 650, 620, 610, 421; ASME Sec. VIII, B31.3, B31.1; ASTM; NFPA 20, 22, 70; applicable AWWA standards).
Proficiency in Visual Hydraulics, BioWin, AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow; experience with Revit and AutoCAD will be an added advantage.
Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within multidisciplinary, multi office project teams.
