Highway Administrative Manager
Description RESIDENCY: Candidates must have been legal residents of the following jurisdiction(s) for at least four months immediately preceding the date of the written test:
Livingston County, or One of the following Counties: Allegany, Genesee, Monroe, Ontario, Steuben or Wyoming
RELATED COLLEGE DEGREE: If the applicant is relying on a related college degree to qualify, the applicant must submit a copy of their unofficial college transcript with the application.
If the applicant is hired, the applicant will be required to have their official transcript directly sent to the Livingston County Human Resources Department. The original transcript must be received by the Livingston County Human Resources Department before completing the onboarding process.
The work involves responsibility for the administration, supervision and the effective coordination, organization, and direction of all accounting, clerical, and program functions in the Livingston County Highway Department. Work is performed in the office and in the field. Supervision is exercised over the accounting and clerical personnel. The work is performed under the general supervision of the County Highway Superintendent, with wide latitude and independent judgment granted in determining operating methods and controls. A Highway Administrative Manager does related work as assigned.

Typical Qualifications
Applicants must meet all requirements for one of the following qualification options in order to be approved for examination and/or appointment:
Training/Education
Possession of a Bachelors[1],[2] degree in business management, public administration, accounting, civil engineering, or a closely related field, PLUS 3 years related experience in in highway construction/maintenance, governmental management operations, or private business management operations. Possession of an Associates[2] degree in business management, public administration, accounting, civil engineering, or a closely related field, PLUS 5 years related experience in in highway construction/maintenance, governmental management operations, or private business management operations.
General experience
One (1) year of the above experience described above shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
License/Certification
Possession of a valid New York State drivers license.

See Special Qualifications below. Part-time service will be given prorated credit toward experience requirements.
Supplemental Information An appropriate drivers license must be maintained throughout employment. A driving record evidencing safe and responsible vehicle operation is required.
PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT NOTICE: An individual who receives a provisional appointment must take the examination for the position title on the next occasion it is offered. NOTE: Livingston County residency is not a requirement for this position. However, Livingston County residents will be given preference in the hiring process.
