JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN / HIGH VOLTAGE

Position Summary:

 

Performs skilled electrical work in the installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical wiring, apparatus, systems, fixtures, motors, industrial instruments, and other equipment under the jurisdiction of the University; performs related work as required. 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

High School diploma or GED .

Possession of a valid State of Michigan Journeyman Electrical License.

Possession of a valid Operator's License, and must meet the provisions of a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Ability to work from blueprints.

Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code.

Demonstrated ability to follow and/or interpret oral or written directions.

Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive image.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical wiring.

Installs and maintains electrical motors, meters and generators.

Makes emergency repairs and adjustments.

Maintains stock of electrical fittings, wire and conduit and instruments as required.

Keeps necessary records as required.

Maintains and repairs high voltage distribution system.

Assists in the maintenance of elevators.
