Job Title: Environmental Scientist
Job Description
Join a leading Environmental Consulting firm with offices throughout Michigan. This position is ideally based out of the Mount Pleasant office and offers an opportunity to work alongside project managers and collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and scientists. You will engage in environmental investigations, UST removals, site remediation, and provide testing services for geotechnical and environmental projects. As an Environmental Scientist, you will guide junior staff, coordinate resources, and lead field investigations while seeking advice from senior technical staff.
Responsibilities
Assist project managers in planning and implementing field environmental investigation and remedial tasks.
Provide field and office support for hydrogeological assessments, overseeing environmental drilling and well installation.
Conduct soil and groundwater sampling, including low-flow sampling.
Oversee excavation activities and conduct aquifer testing.
Evaluate data to develop site conceptual models, delineate contamination, and optimize long-term monitoring programs.
Coordinate regulatory reporting, including figure generation, data management, and development of work plans.
Prepare regulatory documents such as Initial Assessment and Final Assessment Reports, Site Closure Reports, and Due Care Plans.
Assist in project cost estimating, budget management, and subcontractor task coordination, ensuring site health and safety.
Spend approximately 75% of time in the field around Mid Michigan, and 25% in the office collaborating and writing reports.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or Geology.
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Environmental Scientist, Field Tech, Geologist, or Environmental Engineer.
Fieldwork sampling experience, including site assessment, remediation, subsurface drilling, and soil boring.
Experience with LUST/UST projects and groundwater sampling methods.
40 Hour HAZWOPER certification with current 8-hour refresher.
Michigan Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
5 plus years of experience is a bonus.
Willingness to move into a Project Management role within 1-2 years.
Eagerness to mentor and train junior field techs and scientists.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Pleasant, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
