Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

This Maintenance Technician role focuses on general electrical and mechanical maintenance in a clean, lab-based environment. The position requires more than basic maintenance knowledge and offers the opportunity to transition to a permanent role based on performance. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment, electrical systems, and control systems while supporting preventive and predictive maintenance programs and ensuring food safety, quality, and plant security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain electrical systems and control systems on equipment in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment, electrical networks, control panels, and other control system components to minimize downtime.

  • Interface with supervisory personnel to communicate equipment conditions, issues, and recommended corrective actions.

  • Maintain, repair, and install plant lighting systems, including LED fixtures.

  • Use electrical and electronic prints, schematics, ladder logic, plant computer systems, the current National Electrical Code, and test equipment to diagnose and resolve issues.

  • Respond to electrical and maintenance calls while on shift or on call and complete all assigned jobs in a timely manner.

  • Enter, update, and perform work on work orders; plan and schedule additional work as needed.

  • Understand and actively participate in Preventive Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance programs.

  • Complete work tickets and preventive maintenance documentation, including spreadsheets and work ticket software, with accurate and timely data entry.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional work area in accordance with safety and housekeeping standards.

  • Locate parts and reference part numbers to support repairs and maintenance activities.

  • Accurately enter data into computer systems and daily paperwork, ensuring thorough documentation and recordkeeping.

  • Attend and participate in training activities appropriate to the position to maintain and enhance technical skills.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical problems, ensuring high-quality and reliable outcomes.

  • Mentor and train junior team members in electrical work, sharing best practices and safety procedures.

  • Provide accurate assessments of vendor quotes and support purchasing decisions related to maintenance and repair.

  • Program and troubleshoot control systems and identify, diagnose, and fix issues in custom equipment using electromechanical troubleshooting techniques.

  • Uphold the principles of the company’s food safety certification program and follow all food safety, food quality, and plant security procedures.

  • Immediately report any food safety, food quality, or plant security issues to management for appropriate action.

  • Program systems using ladder logic in different languages, with Allen Bradley and Ignition considered a plus.

  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and building systems.

  • Perform equipment set-ups, tune-ups, and run machinery and equipment around the plant as needed.

  • Follow established safety rules and procedures at all times and participate in safety and continuous improvement programs.

  • Support business needs by working flexible days and hours when required.

Essential Skills

  • Electrical and mechanical maintenance experience with more than basic knowledge.

  • Licensed electrician with strong technical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to repair and maintain electrical systems and control systems on industrial equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment, electrical networks, control panels, and control system components.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and electrical/electronic prints.

  • Experience using ladder logic and plant computer systems for troubleshooting and programming.

  • Knowledge of the current National Electrical Code.

  • Two or more years of applicable facilities or maintenance experience.

  • Three or more years of experience in an industrial setting.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (preferred but strongly relevant).

  • Knowledge of EHS regulatory requirements.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing systems and equipment.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.

  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work effectively.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to train and guide others in the field.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to work flexible days and hours to support business needs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school in Maintenance Technology or a closely related discipline.

  • Related technical certification or degree preferred.

  • Experience with food safety and security programs in a production or lab environment.

  • Ability to program systems using ladder logic, with experience in Allen Bradley and Ignition considered a plus.

  • Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance on machinery, equipment, tools, and building systems.

  • Experience performing equipment set-ups, tune-ups, and operating plant machinery.

  • Demonstrated ability to participate in safety, continuous improvement, and other organizational programs.

  • Comfort working in a lab environment that requires cleanliness and adherence to strict procedures.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Moses Lake, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
