POSITION SUMMARY

The Vendor Managed Inventory Lead (VMI) provides dedicated VMI services in-plant at key customer location and acts as an extension of the distribution branch. Manages inventory of stocked goods (re-ordering thru scanning and re-stocking) within a secure warehouse area. Interact daily with customer leadership and internal branch personnel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Neat & orderly maintenance of approximately 2000 ft2 caged, secured warehouse area

  • Receive inventory to customer location

  • Performs physical inventory cycle counts and daily bin audits

  • Receives, unpacks, and refills bins, as necessary

  • Material handling from receiving docks, small parcel receiving and staging area

  • Stage for deliveries within the plant

  • Daily scans of manufacturing work cell areas each morning

  • Pick and pack replenishment orders daily after scanning

  • Delivery and put away to each respective work cell areas

  • Attend daily customer meetings to evaluate consumption for re-order and work with the customer to approve and adjust inventory levels to ensure customer satisfaction

  • Ensure all orders are correct to customers’ sizes and specifications. Check quantity and quality of product as delivered to assure defects-free. If defects or issues are found, communicate to internal branch personnel

  • Effectively document questions and meaningful conversation with customer associates and communicate back to internal branch personnel

  • Maintain 5S (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) principles for cleanliness and organization of each work cell area

  • Performs other duties as assigned

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Prior warehouse/distribution experience preferred

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Operate a Walkie Forklift and Pallet Jack to load and unload shipments while following all regulatory and company safety standards, policies and procedures

  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and prior ERP system experience

  • Must have good math, problem solving, data entry and critical thinking skills

  • Demonstrated success managing inventory and organizational skills

  • High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and prioritization

  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service orientation

  • Work in a team environment as well as independently in a warehouse environment

  • Good written, listening, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lb. boxes

  • Possession of Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch in a warehouse environment

  • Standing and movement 75% of time. Sitting and driving 25% of time

  • Use hands to frequently handle, reach, grasp or feel objects, tools or controls

  • Regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds

  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high

  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (“PPE”) while on-site at customer location including safety eyeglasses, steel toe shoes and provided customer vest

  • Majority of time will be onsite at customer manufacturing facility
