Job Title: Production Chemist Supervisor

Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Production Chemist Supervisor, where you will oversee and coordinate daily activities during the 3rd shift (10pm to 6:30am). You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the production process, maintaining safety standards, and promoting a culture of compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily activities with the Director of Production, receiving instructions during shift change and via emails to prioritize job duties.

  • Guide the issuance of materials and oversee the cleaning of plant suites and equipment for new jobs.

  • Promote a safety culture and act as a secondary contact for authorities in case of any incidents.

  • Ensure all team members adhere to GMP compliance standards.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other team leads to ensure projects are completed successfully and on time.

  • Work with the Technical Operations group or Process Chemists to resolve any project issues.

  • Coordinate with Quality Control for advance notice on analytical samples.

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance for timely review and correction of batch records and other documentation.

  • Participate in the training, evaluation, and assessment of operators.

  • Coach team members and conduct yearly performance reviews.

  • Perform and assume other related duties as assigned, such as working with Chemical Engineers on R&D API production.

Essential Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GMPs for APIs.

  • Practical knowledge of FDA enforcement.

  • Ability to operate various equipment for executing chemical processes.

  • Experience overseeing chemical process execution by team members.

  • Effective communication skills for presenting information and responding to questions.

  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in various forms.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Engineering preferred.

  • Computer proficiency required, with experience in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in a production facility (e.g., chemical, pharmaceutical, or food) preferred.

  • Experience with SAP is a plus.

  • Mechanical aptitude and basic math proficiency.

  • Ability to handle chemicals with engineering and safety controls in place.

  • Willingness to undergo annual physical and drug screening.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing demands.

  • Position involves using a respirator, extended periods of standing, and moderate physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment

You will work the 3rd shift (10pm to 6:30am) in a small but growing production facility. The environment includes a connected R&D and QC lab. The company is experiencing growth with growth opportunities within the group.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morton Grove, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
