CTG GPU Systems Engineer (Linux / HPC) in Morrisville, North Carolina
CTG is seeking to fill an GPU Systems Engineer opening for our client in Morrisville, NC.

Duration: 12 months+ contract with ability to go long term
Overview
We are seeking an experienced GPU Systems Engineer to support and maintain Linux-based GPU compute environments used for AI and high-performance computing workloads.
This role is primarily focused on hands-on systems administration, hardware diagnostics, and GPU server support within an HPC-style environment. Approximately 75% of the work centers on infrastructure operations and hardware, with 25% supporting AI/ML workloads running on GPU systems.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and support Linux-based GPU servers and workstations
Perform hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting (GPU failures, thermals, power, firmware, BIOS)
Install, configure, and maintain NVIDIA drivers and CUDA toolkits
Support GPU server hardware (Lenovo preferred)
Monitor and tune system performance for GPU-intensive workloads
Troubleshoot performance issues impacting AI/ML training and inference jobs
Support clustered or HPC-style compute environments
Maintain documentation for system configurations, patches, and incident resolution
Partner with AI/ML teams to ensure infrastructure stability and performance
Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on Linux systems administration experience
Strong experience with server and workstation hardware troubleshooting
Direct experience supporting GPU servers in production environments
Hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting NVIDIA drivers and CUDA toolkits
Experience diagnosing hardware-level issues (power, cooling, firmware, GPU hardware)
Familiarity with HPC or clustered compute environments
Strong understanding of system monitoring and performance tuning
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Lenovo server hardware
Experience supporting AI/ML workloads on GPU infrastructure
Familiarity with Slurm or other cluster schedulers
Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
Background in research computing, enterprise AI, or data center operations
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
