Affordable Care Buyer - DSO Dental Procurement in Morrisville, North Carolina

JOB PURPOSE

Under direct supervision of the Director of Procurement, the function of the Buyer is to assist in processing purchase requests in support of our affiliated practices and laboratories. This position will play an essential role in helping affiliated locations provide exceptional patient care by ensuring all orders for supplies and equipment are processed and received in a timely manner, allowing practice staff to focus on what they do best, making patients happy.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Buyer functions include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Examine and pursue cost reduction opportunities through alternate products and suppliers

  • Actively research and source new products at the request of our affiliated practices

  • Assist in processing orders for dental and laboratory supplies and equipment, with an emphasis on dental implants and related products

  • Identify implant related inquiries that require escalation to the Clinical Implants team for resolution

  • Track and expedite existing orders as necessary

  • Reconcile invoice discrepancies

  • Review and approve orders based on demand, order volume and purchase history

  • Help control supply costs by providing guidance on order quantities and inventory levels

  • Facilitate product returns for vendor credit on future orders

  • Provide back-up to the Equipment Service Coordinator role in fielding incoming services requests and relaying service requirements to our key service provider and coordinate service technician arrival time

  • Gather and report affiliate requests and inquiries resulting in Buyer activities that can be monitored and tracked to better understand trends, staffing level requirements and customer satisfaction.

  • Assist and provide comprehensive back-up and support on other procurement and supply chain related functions as needed or requested

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or a business degree with a supply chain management concentration preferred.

  • Alternatively, someone with an Associate degree in Dental Support Services (Hygienist, Dental Assistant, Laboratory Technician) that has an interest in transitioning to the business side of the dental industry.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Prior experience working within the dental industry or a Group Purchasing Organization (GPO) highly desirable

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Strong problem solving, and organizational skills with a high attention to detail.

  • Diligent follow up to ensure all requests are fielded in a timely manner and orders are delivered on time

  • Proactive problem solving to successfully resolve issues with delays, backorders, discontinued items, etc.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with both internal stakeholders and a broad supply base

  • Work style: Has a high bias for action, is highly organized, and able to focus on results even within a fluid working environment. Has a capacity for initiative with competent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Communication skills: Well-developed written and oral communication skills. Able to communicate clearly and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external parties as a representative of Affordable Care. Effective facilitation/presentation skills.

  • Integrity: Works with trustworthiness and integrity and has a clear commitment to Affordable Care’s core values and principles. Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
