Aerotek General Production Worker in Morristown, Tennessee

Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the seamless flow of operations by effectively handling and delivering materials in a high-volume production environment. You will operate various motorized and manual equipment such as pallet jacks and carts to facilitate the delivery, movement, and removal of raw materials, work in progress (WIP), and finished goods. Your efforts will ensure that production lines remain free of parts shortages.

Responsibilities

  • Transport raw materials, WIP, and finished goods between production control and manufacturing areas.

  • Communicate with manufacturing team members and leaders to maintain an even flow of materials.

  • Use production plans to calculate the average number of parts needed per hour.

  • Receive raw materials and move them to temporary storage.

  • Maintain and control packaging materials.

  • Transfer completed parts to finished goods and dunnage areas.

  • Prepare finished goods and other materials for shipping.

  • Maintain and control dunnage, including sending, receiving, washing, and storage of returnable dunnage.

  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine machine checks.

  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and processes.

  • Recognize and define problems, collect data, and assist team leaders in developing conclusions.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Essential Skills

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate motorized equipment.

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Receptive to training and capable of performing functions in multiple areas.

  • Strong problem-solving skills using thinking and reasoning.

  • Proficient in calculating figures and amounts using whole numbers and decimals.

  • Basic machining knowledge and ability to apply machining concepts.

  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, procedures, and policies.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively using both oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and pay attention to detail.

  • Capacity to recover from setbacks and adapt to change.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

  • Certificates or diplomas from an accredited college or skill center in machining or machine tool manufacturing highly desired.

  • Solid work history and ability to function successfully within a team environment.

Work Environment

This position operates within a manufacturing facility, often near moving mechanical parts and in environments with exposure to toxic chemicals, electrical risks, fumes, and airborne particles. The work environment may also include exposure to extreme heat and moderate noise levels.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Morristown, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $16.80/hr.
